Incredible New Ukrainian/Eastern Poland Genealogy Research

I've been playing around with a new site that has used AI to extract names and allows for searching capabilities of those names.  And it's been incredible.  My grandfather had told me the names of his aunts, and one such name was Rivka.  I've had her name on my tree for decades, but I knew nothing more about her.  But now I do--including the fact that she was actually a half-aunt, so I've had the wrong mother listed for her since the last century.

Death of Eni Riwka Diamant Salmon; Lutsk; 1937

Eni Riwka Diment Salmon, daughter of Hylel and Sima Diment, died 1937.  After discovering her married name, I was able to discover many more Salmon-descended family members, both on this site and others.  I've also found numerous other documents on this site for this and other lines.  I found documents I'd already found via painstakingly going through huge record books, and they appeared here with a quick search. And this is with minimal exploration, with much more to come.

I highly recommend searching on the archival.name site to see what you can find--and since more is being added regularly, keep checking back.  This site contains both Jewish-specific as well as civil records.  It has traditional vital records as well as many other things, including property records, testimonies, petitions and more.  There is even a selection of archival finding aids that you can search for names to be able to request scans of specific relevant cases from local archives. It is currently strongest in Western Ukraine and Eastern Poland (particularly in the former Galicia), but it does have coverage in other areas as well.

Since these are AI-derived, it's especially important to look at the original to ensure it says what the transcription says.  I found a few examples where the search engine wasn't entirely correct, but it did help me find the record and then I could get the correct information off the scanned image.

The power behind the site has told me that more functionality is being added imminently (including a town-only search, which I was hoping for), so this site will only be getting better.  And stay tuned for an interview with the founder which should offer more insight into what else is coming.

Happy hunting!  And please don't crash the site while I'm still going crazy on it today.
